The Little Warriors Be Brave Ranch is an intensive, intensive, multi-modal, trauma informed treatment centre in Canada that focuses exclusively on the treatment of child sexual abuse.

As a member of a government agency or as a provider of a social service, you are undoubtedly aware of the devastating prevalence and long-term impacts of child sexual assault. Working together, we can help child sexual abuse survivors access the support they need to flourish into happy, healthy adults.

If you are considering referring a child to the Be Brave Ranch, we have outlined some comprehensive information on the treatment that we provide. While a parent or primary caregiver is responsible for child enrollment, we appreciate the valuable role you play in educating parents on their available treatment options. Who Can Apply

The Be Brave Ranch program is open to girls and boys ages 8-12, and girls ages 13-16 who have reported and documented childhood sexual abuse.

Program Overview

The be Brave Ranch treatment program is based on an intensive Tri-Phasic Model of intervention. We support healing using evidence-informed clinical interventions, including TF-CBT (Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral) informed interventions, Expressive Therapies (Art, Psychodrama, etc.), Somatic Therapeutic Interventions, Animal-Assisted Therapy, EMDR, Music Therapy, Group Therapy. Family Therapy, and Individual Therapy.

Treatment combines on-site and outpatient therapies that are delivered over the course of one year and divided into four episodes of intensive interventions:

  • Children will visit the Be Brave Ranch a total of four times over a 12-month period.
  • For children ages 8-12, the first visit is 28 days long, and for adolescents the first visit is 12 days long.
  • The three subsequent visits are 12 days long and staggered throughout the year.
  • In between stays, children will work with their therapist and a clinical transitional coordinator on an outpatient basis via weekly group teleconferences, in collaborations with resources in their community.

Outcomes

Clinical data results confirm the success of the Be Brave Ranch treatment program for boys and girls aged 8-12 and girls aged 13-16.  The results include highly significant reductions in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. Additionally, the intensive and comprehensive treatment program significantly improves self-esteem, cognitive abilities and resiliency. We believe this will lead to profound long-term benefits including reduced mental-health related issues and enriched outcomes for these children in the future.

Societal Outcomes

Scientific literature has identified more than 45 pathological outcomes of child sexual abuse, such as psychiatric disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and interactions with the criminal justice system. All of these outcomes present societal and economic impacts that reach far and wide.

Treatment at the Be Brave Ranch is specifically designed to prevent and treat 42 of these pathological outcomes. We are not only offering these children an opportunity to heal, we are looking to achieve outcomes that benefit generations to come and society as a whole.
